Original reporting and writing

Every article we publish is written originally for Hackney News. We do not republish, mirror or lightly rewrite other outlets' articles. When our coverage draws on reporting by other publications, we say so explicitly and link to the original source.

Sourcing standards

We prioritise wire services, established broadcasters and publications with strong correction records. Stories supported by a single source are held to a higher bar and clearly attributed. We do not publish unverified rumours.

Automation disclosure

Our newsroom uses software to monitor news sources, and drafting tools assist our editorial process. Every published article passes automated quality and sourcing checks against the standards on this page, and the publication is responsible for everything that appears under its name. Content that cannot meet our sourcing and originality thresholds is not published.

Facts versus analysis

We separate confirmed facts from analysis and clearly label interpretation. Headlines must be supported by the body of the article.

Commercial content

Buying guides and comparisons are based on published specifications, verified user feedback and manufacturer documentation. We never claim to have personally tested a product unless we have. See our affiliate disclosure.

Health, legal and financial coverage

Coverage of these topics is general information, never personalised advice. We encourage readers to consult qualified professionals for individual decisions.
